Gutter Cleaning in Plano

A clean gutter is the cheapest part of the system to get right, and the timing is set by the trees over your roof and by two wet months.

In Brief

A cleaning removes everything from the gutters by hand or vacuum, flushes each downspout, and checks that water runs to the outlets.

In Plano, aim to have it done before May and before October. Those are the two wettest months in the National Weather Service's normals for DFW.

What a Proper Visit Includes

  • Debris lifted out and bagged, not blown onto the flower beds.
  • Every downspout run with a hose until it flows freely. A clog at the bottom elbow is common and invisible from the ground.
  • A look at hangers, seams and the fascia while the cleaner is up there.
  • A short report: loose sections, standing water, damaged guards, anything that needs a repair visit.

Ask for photos of the gutters before and after. You cannot see into a second-story gutter from the lawn, and photos are how you know the job was done.

A house with no trees over the roof still collects shingle grit, which settles in the bottom of the gutter and holds water against the metal.

Why a Clog Matters on a Slab House

A blocked gutter overflows along its whole length, and the house behaves as though it had no gutters at all: roof water lands in a line next to the slab. On clay, that is the pattern engineers warn about. The cleaning is not about the gutter. It is about keeping the water going where the downspouts were set up to send it.

Not gutter work: cleaning moss or debris off the roof itself, and trimming the branches that cause the problem. A roofer and a tree service handle those.

Questions People Ask

How often should I have it done?

Under mature oaks, twice a year is a reasonable starting point. With open sky, once a year or less. Let the first visit's findings set the schedule.

Would guards mean I never clean again?

No. Guards cut down how often and how much. Fine debris still gets through or sits on top. See guards compared.

Is cleaning priced like installation?

No. Cleaning is priced per visit, mostly by stories and length. Tell the form it is a cleaning so the right kind of company calls you.

Gutters Full Before the Next Wet Month?

Give the number of stories and roughly how long it has been. A cleaning crew will call to schedule.
