Gutter Repair in Plano

Most gutter problems are one of five things, and four of them can be fixed without replacing the run.

A gutter pulled away from the fascia at a roof corner, with a loose spike hanging out and a dark water stain running down the board and the brick

In Brief

Leaks at corners and end caps are resealed. Sagging or loose runs are rehung with new hangers into sound wood. Crushed elbows and downspouts are swapped.

What cannot be fixed in place is a gutter that is creased, rusted through or hung on rotten fascia.

Why Gutters Come Loose Here

Two things work on every gutter in Plano. Summer heat makes long metal runs grow and shrink daily, which works fasteners and cracks sealant. And a gutter left full of wet leaves weighs many times what an empty one does; the hangers carry that load until they do not.

Storms add the rest. A May 22, 2023 NBC DFW report described a hailstorm that battered parts of Plano, Frisco, The Colony and Allen on May 19, 2023. Hail dents the front lip and can open seams. If a storm damaged your roof, have the gutters looked at in the same visit and listed on the same insurance claim.

NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth report on the Collin County hail cleanup, May 22, 2023. The report gives no hail size for Plano.

Not gutter work: insurance claims are between you and your insurer. A contractor can document damage and write an estimate. What is covered is the insurer's decision.

When the Repair Is Really the Wood

A gutter that keeps pulling away from the same stretch of fascia is telling you about the board. Screws do not hold in rot. The lasting fix is to take that section down, replace the board, prime it, and rehang. See fascia and soffit repair.

Questions People Ask

Is a repair worth doing on thirty-year-old gutters?

If the metal is straight and the trouble is at one or two joints, yes. If faults are spread around the house, price a replacement alongside the repair and compare.

Can a leaking seam just be caulked from outside?

It rarely lasts. The joint has to be cleaned and dried and sealed from the inside, where the water is.

Is a small repair handled differently from an installation?

Yes. The form asks which you need so the request reaches a contractor who takes repair calls.

Something Dripping or Hanging Loose?

Say where on the house and what it does in the rain. A photo helps.
